About Our Laser Skin Care Centre

Edmonton dermatologist and skin specialist Doctor Don Groot was the founder of the Groot DermaSurgery Centre (now Nakatsui DermaSurgery). Dr. Groot specialized in dermatology and retired in 2014 after 34 years of meeting the skin care needs of many of the citizens of Edmonton and Alberta. His long time colleague, dermatologist Dr. Thomas Nakatsui, took over in 2014 and continues to work with a team of dedicated, experienced individuals to make our clinic Edmonton’s premier dermatology and laser skin care centre.

The staff is attuned to the needs and concerns of our dermatology patients from the first phone call through to the final visit. Our patient coordinators are available to answer inquiries, schedule appointments, and organize patient visits to the best of their abilities. Our registered nurses are highly knowledgeable, some with advanced degrees and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

cpsa accredited facility badge

The Centre is an accredited and Certified Non-Hospital Surgical Facility, which is a special certification given by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta to only a few clinics

Accreditation means we are held to the highest standards of sterility in the province and not all facilities are allowed to use this badge.

We are dedicated to being at the forefront of new developments in dermatologic and cosmetic surgery of the skin. The laser equipment at our Edmonton based dermatology centre is state of the art including the latest picosecond lasers for cosmetic skin rejuvenation, scar revision, removal of pigment, removal of vascular (blood vessel) abnormalities, and hair removal. Botox injections and dermal fillers are used in combination with medicated creams, Clear + Brilliant, microdermabrasion, and laser resurfacing to maintain and improve one’s natural beauty. CoolSculpting offers noninvasive solutions for unwanted fat.

Dr. Thomas Nakatsui is a board certified dermatologist at the cutting edge of hair restoration surgery. Through the use of advanced follicular unit transplantation (FUT) and follicular unit excision (FUE) he is able to achieve natural rejuvenated hair lines for his patients.

This wide range of skin and hair treatment options allows us to meet the specific needs of the patient to achieve maximum benefit with minimum risk.
